Tutoring FAQs

How is progress measured?

Our tutoring program begins with your child taking our assessment test. The results of this test serve as an aid to determine the recommended hours necessary to bring your child’s knowledge up to grade-level. The test will also be used to streamline the tutorial sessions and minimize the time spent “searching in the dark” for the critical topics to discuss.

Session notes will be emailed after every session. Progress is assessed every 3-6 months by administering another version of the initial assessment test.

Is Singapore Math aligned with my child’s school math curriculum?

Singapore Math is a widely used math curriculum that is aligned to the common core standards but not necessarily to every school’s math curriculum. While the concepts learned in class will help students build a solid foundation in Math, the concepts may not be directly linked to what a student is learning in school. Students who need assistance with school work and/or assignments should consider registering for Homework Help or Private Tutoring.

Can I make-up missed sessions?

Reschedule requests submitted in writing to Math ETC at least 24-hours in advance will be rescheduled at a later date and time mutually agreed upon between you and the instructor. Please review our policy on rescheduling sessions.

Can I bring in my child’s curriculum from school?

Yes, your tutoring session may be designed around the school’s curriculum.
